Police believe the offenders opened fire on one man in parkland on Monticiano Road, Fraser Rise, at about 6.55pm.
The shooters are believed to have fled the scene in a blue car, which was found ablaze a short time later in Hillside.
Police are also investigating whether a second burning car in Caroline Springs is linked.
Investigators believe this was not a random attack, and nobody was injured.
