Reports from Italy have claimed that Cheslea are now actually in pole position to complete the signing of one striker this summer.

According to Calcio Mercato, the Blues are currently ahead of PSG in the race to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli at the end of the season.

A striker has been widely reported to be top of the list as far as priorities go for Chelsea in the upcoming transfer window, and Osimhen has frequently been mentioned as a top target.

Chelsea want a striker

Interest in the Nigeria international has stemmed back over a year now off the back of his sensational campaign last season as his side went on to win Serie A.

His goalscoring touch has not disappeared this season though. He still has 11 goals in just 17 Serie A matches so far.

It seems his peers are well aware of his talents too. Former Arsenal forward Folarin Balogun described him as ‘world-class’.

While current Chelsea man Nicolas Jackson has proved his worth more than ever in the first team during recent games, it is fair to say that he has not shown the ability to take his chances clinically.

Chelsea in pole position for Osimhen

For this reason, they may be interested in a move for Osimhen, and it has now been reported that they are in pole position for the deal at this stage.

Another side who were mentioned as a potential landing spot were PSG, who will likely be looking for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe at the end of the season.

Chelsea are reportedly interested in a number of strikers as potential signings, with it not clear yet how much money they will have to spend on a new player.

It is believed that they are going to have to sell big early in the window in order to spend well again, and this could see one or two important players leave the club.

One of those linked with this is Conor Gallagher, despite the fact he has been one of the key players at Stamford Bridge under Mauricio Pochettino.
