National Hot Dog Day is upon us – and glizzy gobblers arounds the globe will be happy to know that several deals and promotions are available in honor of the occasion. 

A quintessential summer food, franks are already a favorite in in the US – with Americans consuming some 20 billion hot dogs annually.

That said, some 38 percent of those purchases – amounting to $614 million – take place between Memorial Day and Labor Day, according to the preeminent authority on the subject, the Hot Dog and Sausage Council.

During that three-month span, millions of Americans flock to picnics, barbecues, and ballparks to partake in the tasty morsels, often over grills and campfires.

To celebrate the occasion, several supermarkets, fast food chains, and even department stores are offering deals – and even a few freebies. Here are some of the best:

7-Eleven

There’s just one caveat –  you need to be a members of the stores’ 7Rewards and Speedy Rewards loyalty programs to take part, but it’s easy to sign up. To do so, just head to the chain’s website or speak to a staffer at your nearest location.

The chain said it is celebrating Hot Dog Day this year by offering 5-cent hot dogs within a three-hour window Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm local time at participating restaurants. 

The 5-cent price tag is notable due to it being the original price of the hot dog when the first restaurant opened. There’s a limit of two hot dogs per order. 

So, if you want to channel your inner Joey Chestnut, be sure to pay a visit. 

Philly Pretzel Factory
