Former Chelsea star Antonio Rudiger has now shared what he thinks should happen in the managerial role at the club.

He told Sky Sports what he thinks they should do with Mauricio Pochettino after what has been a pretty rough season at Stamford Bridge.

Rudiger has gone on to star at Real Madrid since leaving the Blues, with him being the one player many supporters wish had never left.

Pressure on Mauricio Pochettino

The situation now at the club is far from rosy, with a lot of pressure on the shoulders of Pochettino in his role at Chelsea.

Silverware is now no longer a possibility in his first campaign at the club, and they face a race against their own inconsistencies to qualify for Europe from their league position.

While discussion has been prevalent amongst the fanbase over whether he should be replaced or not, Rudiger believes the best thing they can do is give him time.

He said: “I just hope they give the coach time and I hope the players step up for the coach. Because Chelsea is about silverware, and to see them not winning anything is tough. I look forward to the future to see them compete again.”

Rudiger recently helped Real Madrid book their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League, scoring the winning penalty at the expense of Mateo Kovacic and Manchester City.

Chelsea will be hoping beyond anything that they are back amongst the big dogs in Europe by the end of this season, and that will play a huge part in whether Pochettino is handed more time to make things work at Stamford Bridge.

As far as other candidates go, the Blues are reportedly looking all around Europe for the right man for the job, with some Premier League names also being mentioned. Roberto de Zerbi from Brighton and Eddie Howe at Newcastle are two of the names who have been mentioned, and it remains to be seen whether they are trusted with the step up at the end of the season.
