Former Chelsea winger Willian has had his say on who should win the Premier League Player of the Season award.

The likes of Cole Palmer and Phil Foden have been nominated for the honour after excellent campaigns at Chelsea and Manchester City respectively.

In 30 Premier League appearances, Palmer has scored 21 goals and provided nine assists.

As for Foden, he has netted 16 times and registered eight assists.

While Palmer may have better numbers than his former City teammate, that did not stop Foden from winning the Football Writers’ Footballer of the Year award.

Willian names his player of the season

A few of his teammates at Fulham believe Palmer should win the Premier League Player of the Season accolade.

Willian, however, went for Foden when asked for his opinion by the Cottagers’ official Instagram account.

Being such a popular figure during his time at Chelsea, Blues supporters will be disappointed to hear his answer.

It is quite clear, though, that Palmer and Foden have been really close to each other this term.

Cole Palmer has got recognition at Chelsea

Palmer has at least been rewarded for his performances this season by his club.

He recently won both the Chelsea Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year awards. For the latter, he voted for Malo Gusto.

Gusto has not had a terrible season, especially considering that he has not been in England for too long.

He has looked like a real modern-day full-back with the way he has got forward, notching up eight assists in all competitions.

However, there was only going to be one winner for both of those awards: Palmer.

It has been some season for the England international. He has really set the bar high for himself and his teammates for the 2024/25 campaign. The expectations for Palmer are going to be massive after everything he has accomplished this term.
