In the absence of both their captain and vice-captain for large portions of this season, Conor Gallagher has stepped up and donned the armband for much of this campaign.
Given the fact that it is only really his second season as a senior player at Stamford Bridge, it is a fantastic achievement for him to be thought of that highly by Mauricio Pochettino.
Even though there are senior players such as Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling at the club, it seems Gallagher has impressed enough both on and off the pitch to fulfil the role.

A video on the Twitter page of CFCParee shows defender Trevoh Chalobah giving a speech to the players, with another one included of him doing the same thing when they faced Everton.
The Englishman was on the scoresheet last night, and picked up his first player of the match award for a fine performance against their big rivals Tottenham.

It was a crucial personal display for him, with the summer transfer window approaching soon and the likelihood still being that he will be sold for the right price.
Previous claims have stated that he would be available for a fee of around £35m, with him nearly being on the move just under a year ago.
Showing he is a leader in a squad of young and inexperienced stars should be a massive bonus for Pochettino and co though, with them surely taking into account the need for players like that right now.
