Jason Cundy has described one Chelsea player as a “revelation” after watching him perform today at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea’s resurgence towards the back-end of the season continued on Sunday afternoon by thrashing West Ham 5-0 in the Premier League.

The Blues now have seven points from their previous three matches against West Ham (5-0 win), Tottenham (2-0 win) and Aston Villa (2-2 draw).

Mauricio Pochettino’s side showed their attacking intent and quality over the weekend versus West Ham. Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Noni Madueke and Nicolas Jackson (two) were all on the scoresheet.

Jason Cundy blown away by Chelsea star

Jason Cundy singled out Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella for some big praise during today’s match.

The 25-year-old left-back, who inverted into midfield when his side had possession, caught the eye yet again for the right reasons.

Speaking via talkSPORT earlier this week, Jamie O’Hara admitted he was annoyed by how well Cucurella performed against Tottenham.

Now, the Blues full-back has followed it up by impressing at home to West Ham.

When discussing Cucurella during Chelsea vs West Ham via the club’s official app, Cundy said (2:48pm, 5 May): “He’s been excellent. What a revelation.

“Cucurella, there’s a bravery about him. There’s an energy about him. Whatever you think he doesn’t seem to give up. There seems to be a real purpose about his game.”

Marc Cucurella impressive numbers vs West Ham

WhoScored recorded the data from Cucurella’s solid display against the Hammers.

From our point of view, Cucurella’s passing the eye test as well as the statistical one.

He looks to us like he’s so comfortable with the ball at his feet in these clever central positions he’s picking up. He’s cut out the sloppiness and rashness that’s previously existed in his Chelsea career, too.

Marc Cucurella the ‘revelation’

We agree that this feels like a new chapter Cucurella’s turning in his Blues career. It’s for the better as well!

He’s played every minute of the last nine consecutive league matches, where his form has progressively got better. In particular, this week against Spurs and West Ham has been a real high point with his levels.

However, he was an unused substitute in five of the opening six league games this season, so he’s had to earn the manager’s trust over time.

Will he be a key player at Stamford Bridge when we move into next season?
