The future of Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino is going to be decided at the end of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino will have just one year to run on his contract and his position will be considered when Chelsea begin their end-of-season review, according to The Telegraph.

It has not been the campaign that Todd Boehly and Co would have wanted.

The Blues have failed to qualify for the Champions League.

However, three consecutive wins against Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have put them in contention for the final Europa League spot. According to journalist Simon Phillips, Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United are keen on Pochettino.

Mauricio Pochettino convinced

There have probably been more downs than ups for Pochettino and Chelsea this term.

However, it looks like the Argentine is still confident about keeping hold of his job.

A report from CaughtOffside has claimed that Pochettino is convinced that he will still be in the Stamford Bridge dugout next season.

The former Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur boss still has two games to oversee in this campaign, though.

If things do not go to plan there and Chelsea end up missing out on Europe, that confidence could quickly vanish.

Should Mauricio Pochettino feel safe?

Right now, you can understand why the 52-year-old is not panicking.

Qualifying for Europe is largely in his side’s hands. It is not guaranteed, as United winning the FA Cup could complicate things, but do that and there probably is a good chance of Pochettino remaining in west London beyond this summer.

However, fail there, and it would not be a surprise to see Chelsea get rid of their manager.

But after the Blues’ upturn in form, there is reason for Pochettino to feel optimistic, while he will surely point towards the fact that he has had to contend with so many injuries this term when making his case of why he should not be sacked.
