Chelsea winger Raheem Sterling has taken a keen interest in one youngster at the club.
Chelsea finalised the transfer of Dujuan Richards last month after the forward turned 18 in November, and he has now told the Blues’ official website that Raheem Sterling messaged him before he arrived in west London.
Both players hail from Jamaica, though Sterling is an England international, earning 82 caps for the Three Lions.
However, the 29-year-old has been left out of Gareth Southgate’s last few squads.
As for Richards, he has already represented Jamaica’s senior team on seven occasions, scoring one goal for his country so far.

Raheem Sterling helping Dujuan Richards
Richards says Sterling contacted him before his arrival at Chelsea and has been looking after him since.
He told Chelsea’s official website: “Raheem and I messaged over Instagram before I arrived at Chelsea. I just got a message from him one day and I was really surprised. I woke up for training and I told everyone there that Raheem had messaged!
“Things like that don’t normally happen. For someone playing at the highest level to message and tell me that I’m a good guy — it motivates me a lot. He’s a good guy and is looking out for me.”

Dujuan Richards, a future Chelsea centre-forward?
Maybe Richards really could lead the line for Chelsea one day. He is clearly a talented player, recently being promoted to Chelsea’s first-team training.
There is a long way to go, though, and the Jamaica international probably needs a couple of loans before he is ready to make an impact at Stamford Bridge.
Sterling is obviously someone who can have an influence now, but he has not really been a difference-maker in the Premier League for Mauricio Pochettino‘s men of late. The former Manchester City man has actually not scored a goal in the top flight since November.
Chelsea need a bit more from him as they look to try and win both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup to salvage what has been a disappointing season.
