Chelsea are determined to make a move this summer to sign a Premier League attacker that they really want.

It’s going to be interesting to see how Chelsea’s attack lines up next season, especially with a new head coach in the dugout.

Mauricio Pochettino, whose exit from Stamford Bridge by mutual consent was confirmed on Tuesday, did coach a side that were pretty decent going forward. Cole Palmer (25), Nicolas Jackson (17) and Raheem Sterling (10) were the Blues players to hit double figures for goals across all competitions this campaign.

There’s now fresh reports that claim Chelsea already have plans to add to their forward line by signing a goalscoring winger from a rival club.

Chelsea desperate to sign £60m attacker

The Mirror claims that Chelsea are making a £60m move this summer to sign Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, regardless of who they appoint as their next manager.

It is understood that they are ‘desperate’ not to miss out on the in-demand right-winger.

The report says that the 22-year-old Palace star is attracting interest from Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, Newcastle United and Liverpool.

The Mirror’s report explains that Pochettino’s exit came about partly because the club failed to give him a greater say on transfers. It’s evident here that Chelsea’s vision is already in place to make their move for Olise this summer.

In fairness, The Chelsea Chronicle would argue that any manager out there would love an attacker with the skill and threat of the Palace talisman.

What makes Michael Olise a ‘special’ player?

Patrick Vieira described Olise as a “special talent” back in February 2022 (The Independent). The left-footed trickster has proven just that in recent years, too.

Despite only playing 19 league games this season due to injury, Olise still made a very sizeable impact for Palace. The French forward actually scored 10 goals and created six assists from his half a campaign.

Chelsea only had to come up against the Palace danger man once this season, but he did get on the scoresheet in that match.

On top of his attacking returns this year, Olise passes the eye test with flying colour because of his close control, dribbling and first touch.

If signed, what would that mean for Noni Madueke? He finished the season as Chelsea’s right-winger, but Olise does feel like an upgrade in terms of end product and ability.
