Officers called to Jambaroo Street in Albany Creek about 5.30pm today found the bodies of a man in his 40s and a woman in her 70s.
A crime scene remained into the night as police probed the circumstances of the deaths.
Early information was limited but investigators believed the two people knew each other and said there was no threat to the community.
Anyone who saw or heard anything near Jambaroo Street before 5.30pm was urged to come forward to police.
