Enzo Maresca will be replacing Mauricio Pochettino as Chelsea manager.

Last week, it was reported that Enzo Maresca had agreed a five-year contract with Chelsea to succeed Mauricio Pochettino.

According to The Athletic, the club are now just waiting to announce the Italian’s move from Leicester City.

It already seems like Maresca has got down to work when it comes to transfers.

The 44-year-old has reportedly given Chelsea his approval to bring one player in this summer.

Enzo Maresca gives his approval

Maresca will not have Thiago Silva next season, with the central defender joining Fluminense.

However, it looks like Chelsea will replace Silva with Fulham’s Tosin Adarabioyo, who is close to joining the club, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It has now been claimed by CaughtOffside that Maresca has had a say in the Blues’ move for Adarabioyo and approved his signing.

Chelsea will be getting the 26-year-old on a free transfer, as his contract expires this month.

He made 25 appearances in all competitions for Fulham this season.

Why has Enzo Maresca approved the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo?

With Silva going, Maresca may feel that he needs another central defender in the squad.

There is also a possibility of Trevoh Chalobah departing as well; he is currently being linked to Manchester United.

Adarabioyo, who has been described as a “fantastic” player in the past by former teammate Darragh Lenihan, knows the Premier League and is really effective in the air.

As per WhoScored, Adarabioyo won 2.9 aerial duels per game this season. No one recorded a higher average in Fulham’s squad.

Costing nothing as well, you can see why Maresca would say yes to Adarabioyo coming in.

He will now join a roster that already has Benoit Badiashile, Axel Disasi, Levi Colwill and Wesley Fofana. When everyone is fit, it will be interesting to see who Maresca goes with.

Defensively, Chelsea will have to improve next season after conceding 63 goals in the Premier League this term.
