Former Blue John Obi Mikel has shared what he believes the incoming Chelsea manager must continue from Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club.

Enzo Maresca is all set to be announced as the new boss at Stamford Bridge, after a pretty swift recruitment process took place.

It is believed that Pochettino was not relieved of his duties off the back of performances on the pitch, and instead off the field matters likely revolving around transfers.

This is already not likely to be an issue for the Italian, whose comments when he was in charge of Leicester City suggest it is not an area he is too concerned with.

One player who will likely be gutted the Argentine has gone is Cole Palmer, who enjoyed arguably the best debut season at a new club in Premier League history under him.

Maresca told to get the best out of Cole Palmer

Mikel told TalkSPORT that he believes it is crucial for Maresca to continue in this fashion by getting the best out of the England international.

He said: “He has been amazing. Obviously, he has been the best player so far for Chelsea. I think he (Enzo Maresca) has to get the best out of him. Poch managed to do that. Can Enzo do that? There are a lot of players as well I think that Enzo needs to get the best out of.

“Enzo Fernandez is a good player, he is a World Cup winner, so he needs to find a way to get the best out of him as well. If he can do that, he will be so good for us. Him and Caicedo in the middle will be so good.

“They both I can see them can be able to dominate games. He has to find a way to make sure that he can get the best out of Enzo Fernandez.”

Maresca has plan for Enzo Fernandez

It has been reported already that the former Manchester City academy boss impressed during the interview process when he singled out a plan to get the best out of Enzo Fernandez.

With this being something many at Chelsea are still waiting to see since his signing, they will be optimistic as to what the future holds for the club.
