Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim is now reportedly wanted by Barcelona.
This comes amid rumours that he’s on Chelsea’s radar, too.
Ruben Amorim, who’s only 39, has been doing a brilliant job in recent years with Portuguese giants Sporting. His side are currently top of the Liga Nos league table with 19 wins from 23 games so far this season.
Therefore, it’s no big surprise he’s linked with a high-profile move this summer to a big club.
The Guardian claimed earlier this week that Chelsea are monitoring Amorim as a potential managerial target in case they decide to get rid of Mauricio Pochettino. They’re also looking at Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi, too.
Mauricio Pochettino is still the active Blues head coach at Stamford Bridge, but there’s a lot of rumours about his future circulating around the media.
It sounds like there’s a different frontrunner for Amorim, though.

Barcelona interested in Ruben Amorim
The Independent claims that Sporting boss Amorim is the ‘top choice’ for Spanish giants Barcelona when they have to replace Xavi Hernandez at the end of the season in their dugout.
It is understood that Barca are closer to the 39-year-old manager than any of their European rivals.
The report explains that Liverpool and Bayern Munich also have an interest in Amorim, albeit both are currently focused on Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso.
Speaking via Tribal Football a year ago, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta described Amorim as “incredible” for the work he’s done in Lisbon. So, could we soon see the pair compete against each other in the Premier League?
Amorim’s preferred system of using a back three could really lend itself to the current Chelsea squad, but we’ll have to see what happens with Pochettino first before looking too far into the future.
For Pochettino, he’s got to get Chelsea into the top half of the league table and past an FA Cup quarter-final against Championship leaders Leicester City this month.
