Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez does not look to be Chelsea’s priority right now.

Chelsea are likely to sign a new striker when the transfer window opens.

They finished last season with Nicolas Jackson as the only recognised centre-forward in their squad, while Armando Broja looks destined to leave the club this summer.

The 22-year-old is being heavily linked with a move to Everton.

However, Chelsea seem to be prioritising another No.9 over Alvarez.

Julian Alvarez not Chelsea’s priority

Last week, it was claimed that Chelsea were considering making a bid for Alvarez.

According to GiveMeSport, the Blues do have some interest in the Argentine.

However, the same outlet states that Chelsea are prioritising the signing of Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig over Alvarez.

But there is no guarantee that they end up with the Slovenian.

The reliable Fabrizio Romano has shared that Arsenal and Manchester United are also keen on Sesko, who has been described as a “powerful” forward by Tony Cascarino.

Benjamin Sesko a much easier deal than Julian Alvarez

Sesko is known to have a £55m release clause in his contract. Alvarez has nothing like that in his and City want to keep hold of him.

According to Romano, the 24-year-old needs to ask City to leave and be the subject of a huge offer if a move is to happen this summer.

It makes acquiring Sesko a much easier task, though interest from Arsenal and United will obviously complicate things for Chelsea.

Whether it is Sesko or Alvarez, the most important thing is that Chelsea bring in a top-quality forward.

They cannot go through another season solely relying on Jackson. They failed to reach their objective of qualifying for the Champions League doing that and risk a repeat if they do the same thing again next term. Sesko, Alvarez or someone else has to be brought in this summer, otherwise it could end up being a very long campaign for Enzo Maresca and his men.
