One Premier League player is hoping to face Enzo Maresca and Chelsea on the opening day of the new season.

A lot of eyes will be on Chelsea during the 2024/25 campaign following the arrival of Enzo Maresca.

After working with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City and winning promotion to the Premier League with Leicester City, the Italian is regarded as a very promising coach in the game.

However, he is still fairly inexperienced and has not managed a team in the English top flight before.

Nevertheless, there still seems to be some excitement about Maresca’s appointment as Chelsea boss.

Chelsea in player’s sights

Maresca left Leicester after just one season to take the Chelsea job.

And it does not look like one of his former players has forgotten that.

Ricardo Pereira was asked which team he would like to face when the Premier League returns, and the defender answered with Chelsea at home.

Pereira and the rest of his teammates would surely love the chance to get one over their old boss on the first day of the campaign.

But it could easily be a loss for the Foxes, with Chelsea being one of the top teams in the country.

When will Ricardo Pereira, Leicester City and Chelsea find out who they are playing?

The Premier League fixtures list will be announced on Tuesday 18 June at 09:00.

That day, Chelsea will find out who they will be taking on in their first game of the 2024/25 season.

They will be hoping for a much easier fixture than what they got last term.

Mauricio Pochettino had to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in his first game in charge as Chelsea manager.

The matched finished 1-1, with Axel Disasi scoring on his debut to cancel out Luis Diaz’s goal. The Blues would then go on to lose 3-1 to West Ham United, so it was definitely not a good start to the season for them.
