Chelsea are well represented at this summer’s Euros.

Cole Palmer, Conor Gallagher, Mykhailo Mudryk, Marc Cucurella, Djordje Petrovic, Ian Maatsen, Armando Broja and Romelu Lukaku are all in Germany for the tournament.

Chelsea also have former players representing their respective countries at Euro 2024.

That includes Andreas Christensen, for example, who left the Blues for Barcelona back in 2022.

The central defender started in Denmark’s 1-1 draw with Slovenia and did something pretty impressive in it.

What Andreas Christensen did in Denmark’s draw with Slovenia

Christensen has always been a ball-playing central defender who is so elegant in possession and proved that once again on Sunday.

His passing was as accurate as can be.

According to Opta, the 28-year-old completed all 89 of his passes at the MHPArena.

It is a record for most successful passes while maintaining a 100% accuracy on record in a match at the European Championship.

It is the kind of thing you would expect from a Barcelona defender and shows what a loss he was to Chelsea, who could not even get a fee for him after his contract expired.

Chelsea have their Andreas Christensen successor

To be fair to Chelsea, they probably have replaced Christensen adequately or have someone in their squad who can do a similar job to him.

Like the Denmark international, Levi Colwill came through the ranks at Cobham and is a similar profile of defender, a modern-day centre-half who wants to be on the ball.

As per FBref, Colwill has ranked in the 85th percentile for progressive carries and the 90th percentile for successful take-ons among centre-backs over the last year.

The 21-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer, but Chelsea would be wise to keep hold of him.

Colwill has the potential to become as good as Christensen and can do what he does for Denmark and Barcelona at Chelsea.
