Chelsea have been forced to return to the drawing board when it comes to signing a new attacker for their first team this summer.

They seemed to be prioritising the signing of Michael Olise from Crystal Palace, however walked away from the deal when the financial situation was deemed to be not worth it.

The Frenchman now looks set for a move to Bayern Munich, although Chelsea have not put an end to their efforts to add a big name to their ranks.

It looks as if they have some of their attention not too far away from where Olise played his football.

It has been claimed that the Blues hold an interest in signing fellow Palace player Eberechi Eze, with a number of top Premier League sides also interested in a deal.

Chelsea chiefs keen on Eze

Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that there are a number of figures at Stamford Bridge who are keen admirers of the England international.

He said on his Substack: “As we exclusively revealed here, which was then confirmed by The Athletic, Chelsea do have an interest in Eze.

“SPTC sources say that a lot of people at Chelsea like the England international. However, he is seen as a more of a 10 than a winger, and Chelsea are targeting a winger more than a 10.

“Of course, Eze can and does play as a winger too, and he is very versatile. So Chelsea’s interest in him could push on and become more solid.”

Great chance for Noni Madueke next season

There is certainly some logic in the reported desire to change their attention to signing a player who stars on the opposite side to Olise.

The end of last season saw a strong few performances in a row from Noni Madueke, who began to show what he was capable of when given opportunities.

With youngsters such as Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez set to join the club in the coming years, there is certainly some depth ready to come in that area for the Blues.
