Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca could put a lot of trust in one youngster next season.

This is a Chelsea squad that already has a lot of young players in it.

The likes of Levi Colwill and Malo Gusto, for example, are both still 21.

Alfie Gilchrist is only 20, though he could join another club on loan this summer.

However, despite already possessing so many young players in their ranks, it looks like Chelsea could add more to their squad ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Chelsea close to signing another young talent

Chelsea recently confirmed that they had agreed a deal with Palmeiras to sign Estevao Willian.

However, the 17-year-old is not the only youngster the Blues will be bringing in this summer.

Chelsea are also close to landing Barcelona striker Marc Guiu, who is one year older than Estevao.

And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, he is expected to be part of Maresca‘s senior squad next season.

Discussing Chelsea’s plans for Guiu on X, Jacobs said: “Worth noting, Chelsea view Guiu as a first-team signing. Clause seen as strong value, and the 18-year-old is expected to be part of Enzo Maresca’s squad rather than brought in with Strasbourg or an immediate loan in mind.”

Should Marc Guiu be part of Chelsea’s first team next season?

Chelsea definitely need to add a new striker to their squad during this transfer window.

Nicolas Jackson had little cover last term, with the 23-year-old going on to play 44 times under Mauricio Pochettino.

Guiu, though, is still very unproven. Again, the Spaniard is only 18 and has made just seven senior appearances in his career so far.

Really, then, Guiu should be going out on loan unless he has a remarkable pre-season under Maresca.

If Chelsea cannot find another experienced centre-forward in the market, though, then it may be worth keeping Guiu around.

The above should not be difficult, however, especially when someone like Lille’s Jonathan David could be available for as little as £20m.
