The Victorian family of a 15-year-old boy who was left with ”life-altering” injuries following an abduction last year is calling for tougher penalties for youth offenders.
The boy suffered brain damage after he was attacked while walking home with friends from Glen Eira Secondary College in September last year.
The student was forced into a car and seriously injured after coming out of the vehicle while it was moving.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested and charged with armed robbery, committing an indictable offence on bail, conduct endangering life, intentionally causing serious injury, reckless conduct and theft.
He faced children’s court yesterday, but the victim’s mother confirmed the most serious offence of causing serious injury and reckless conduct was dropped in a plea deal with prosecutors.
He could likely be spared jail time. 
The victim’s mother had little words to say regarding the outcome.
She said jail time meant justice for her family.
“I feel so sad, I have to accept what we got,” she told reporters today.
“We wait for so long and so disappointed.
“It should not be like this. My son (was) in hospital (for) so long and even now he still struggles.
The 15-year-old boy will return to court next month.
