It’s going to be vital for Chelsea’s new head coach to start quickly next season and win over the supporters from day one.

Enzo Maresca, 44, is the new individual in the manager’s dugout. All eyes will be on him as he takes on by far the biggest job of his brief managerial career so far.

The Italian boss, who previously worked as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City, led Leicester City to promotion from the Championship last season. He did so while implementing a clear possession-based style of football at Leicester, too.

How is he going to cope taking charge of the Chelsea dressing room with more high-profile players?

Hopefully, Maresca settles quickly and starts strongly. It’s certainly a rough introduction for him as Chelsea will host reigning champions Manchester City on the opening day of the Premier League.

The Chelsea Chronicle thinks that Maresca will have a better chance of a quick start if the Blues sign a current transfer target.

Chelsea target Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could be a vital signing for Enzo Maresca

Chelsea are linked with a host of quality players in the transfer market. You could argue that Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall could be the most effective signing of them all, though.

The Athletic has reported on Friday that Chelsea have submitted a bid to sign Leicester midfielder Dewsbury-Hall.

Meanwhile, journalist Fabrizio Romano claimed via X that Chelsea are discussing including David Datro Fofana and Cesare Casadei in the deal for Dewsbury-Hall.

If Maresca wants his players to understand his philosophy from day one, then introducing a player from his title-winning Leicester team could be most effective.

It would be understandable to question if Dewsbury-Hall is ready to step up and make an impact in Chelsea’s XI immediately. The 25-year-old box-to-box midfielder was sensational last season under Maresca, though. He’s played in the Premier League before, too.

Described as “amazing” by Ademola Lookman in 2022 (Leicester’s official website), Dewsbury-Hall looks primed to step up in his career.

A genuine goalscoring midfielder

Dewsbury-Hall was perfect in Leicester’s system last year as a No 8 midfielder.

The left-footed Englishman had a real licence within the team to burst into attack, which is something he can do with his incredible engine.

He scored 12 goals and made 15 assists across all competitions last season for the Foxes.

While Chelsea players adapt to life under Maresca, Dewsbury-Hall could be a great option to start the campaign with if he joins the club. He knows the system inside out and could help players around him.

How could line up with Dewsbury-Hall to start the season
