Chelsea are in the market for a new centre-forward.

Recently, Chelsea have been heavily linked with Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international had a great 2023/24 Premier League campaign, scoring 21 goals in 30 appearances for the Magpies.

He is the kind of striker most Chelsea fans would probably welcome to Stamford Bridge this summer.

However, it looks like a lot of supporters would also take Ivan Toney.

Ivan Toney catches attention at Euro 2024

Toney is currently with England at Euro 2024.

However, the Brentford star has seen little action in Germany, making just a cameo against Slovakia so far.

Toney managed to make quite the impact in that game, though, assisting Harry Kane’s winner. And now some Chelsea fans want to see him at Stamford Bridge and are questioning why the club have not made a move for the 28-year-old.

One Chelsea supporter took to X to say: “Why are we not going in for Toney?”

Another posted: “Why is CFC not bidding for Toney!!!?”

Another Chelsea fan also asked: “Why are Chelsea not all over Ivan Toney btw???”

“We should sign Toney” and “That Ivan Toney cameo reminded me of the reason I want him in Chelsea” were a couple of other responses.

Why Chelsea have not made an offer for Ivan Toney

Chelsea are clearly looking for a striker right now and Toney clearly looks capable of doing a job.

The England international has proven himself in the Premier League. For example, back in the 2022/23 season, he scored 20 goals in 33 appearances.

The problem is Toney is now 28; he does not fit Chelsea’s strategy.

According to GiveMeSport, Brentford value their centre-forward at £60m as well. The Blues are not going to want to spend that on someone who turns 30 soon.

The above is probably why Chelsea are yet to make a strong push to sign Toney.

But it is a long summer and Enzo Maresca could do with a new striker coming in, so who knows? The Blues finished last term with Nicolas Jackson as the only recognised centre-forward in their squad.
