As soon as Chelsea announced their new manager, there was one big question that prevailed about his time at Stamford Bridge.

Enzo Maresca was the man selected to take over from Mauricio Pochettino after he left the club following just one season at the helm.

However, many were left wondering if he was brought in by the club with the intention of him following the structure laid out, and if he was to have any say in the transfers going on at the club this summer.

It has seemed that whether directly or indirectly, he has influenced the club in one of their main transfer targets at this stage.

Reports have stated that the Blues now expect to complete a deal to sign Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, after agreeing a deal with recently-promoted Leicester City to bring him in.

Youngster Michael Golding looks set to go the other way in a separate deal, meaning the fee they are paying to bring him in looks very respectable.

One figure who no doubt has plenty of experience working with him is Maresca, who got the best out of him.

The midfielder was described as ‘amazing’ during his time with the Foxes, and the links to the new Chelsea boss have been noted.

Now, according to The Athletic, the Englishman has been on the transfer list ever since they hired the new head coach, however working on other deals is the only reason that they didn’t immediately go for him.

The fact the Blues are set to bring Dewsbury-Hall in could spell danger for Conor Gallagher, who a sale of has not been ruled out at this stage.

The fact that he has not yet signed a new deal with the club is worrying, considering that his current contract expires at the end of next season.
