Mission Impossible star Simon Pegg has called out Zack Snyder’s 2004 remake of George A. Romero’s classic Dawn of the Dead movie.

Although Pegg expressed that he thinks the remake is an “exciting” and “great movie”, he went on to express his frustration with the movie’s title.

Pegg recently starred in the latest season of Prime Video’s The Boys, which he talked about with The Hollywood Reporter before weighing in on the 2004 Dawn of the Dead remake.

“The thought of anyone just nicking [a movie] title… I always got annoyed at Zack Snyder’s Dawn of the Dead remake” for doing just that, Pegg explained.

“It’s a great movie,” he added.

“It’s really exciting.”

He continued: “But I hated the fact they called it “Dawn of the Dead” because that was George [Romero]’s film.”

He went on to suggest what they could have called it.

“They could have called it “Deadish,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

He went on to state that Deadish “was a great line in the [original] film that one of the actors used.”

He added: “It still would have been a great film, but when you just take a title because people recognize it, it’s so disrespectful to the original.”

Pegg vented his frustration with Snyder’s 2004 Dawn of the Dead movie when expressing his concerns with the potential that studios will reboot his Shaun of the Dead movie.

Simon Pegg would be angry if Shaun of the Dead was rebooted

“There’s so much of our own heart and soul in that film,” he said during the same interview.

“The whole joke of Ed and Shaun not being able to ever come out of The Winchester was real. That was about Nick and I, that was about our decision to just stay in a North London pub,” he added.

Although he stated that the studio could reboot the movie if they want to, as it’s technically theirs, he went on to explain that he and Edgar Wright would be “incensed” if they did.
