It has been a busy transfer window for Chelsea so far.

Last week, Chelsea brought Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Marc Guiu to the club.

Before that, Omari Kellyman and Tosin Adarabioyo were signed, while there is also a deal in place for Estevao Willian to arrive from Palmeiras next year.

However, a guaranteed first-team striker is yet to be signed, with it being claimed that Chelsea could loan Guiu to Sevilla.

Whether the Blues go out and buy that could now hinge on two things it seems.

What will push Chelsea into signing a centre-forward?

As things stand, Nicolas Jackson is likely to start the 2024/25 season as Chelsea’s first-choice striker.

Last term, he made 44 appearances under former manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Christopher Nkunku could possibly be an alternative to him, with the Frenchman also able to play up front, while the likes of Guiu and Armando Broja remain in west London for now, so that is two more options.

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella, though, has suggested that Chelsea could sign another centre-forward this summer, depending on the fitness and performances of Enzo Maresca‘s current options in pre-season.

The Blues kick off their pre-season tour of America with a game against Wrexham later this month.

How likely are Chelsea to sign a new striker before the transfer window closes?

If it depends on fitness, for example, then very likely! After all of the injuries that Chelsea had last season, no one would be surprised to see someone like Nkunku pick up another problem.

That would most certainly force the club to act.

If the likes of Nkunku and Jackson can stay fit, though, then Chelsea may leave it there and wait until next year when options who are not available now could be on the market.

The business that Chelsea have been able to do, they can be pleased with.

While Dewsbury-Hall and Adarabioyo are not the most glamorous names, they bring Premier League experience with them, something that a lot of the club’s recent signings have lacked.
