Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has now praised one Chelsea player after their side’s nervy win over Leeds United.

He told ITV4 Football that he believes Mykhailo Mudryk is an extremely talented player, although he has needed time to show his best at Stamford Bridge.

Mudryk scored his first goal of 2024 as the Blues picked up a narrow 3-2 win over a very impressive Championship outfit.

It took the substitution of Conor Gallagher in the second half to help Chelsea find the winner, with him finding the net right at the end of normal time.

It was good for the Blues to bounce back in any way possible following the heartache at Wembley at the weekend.

Mudryk was one of the players who failed to make an impact off the bench against Liverpool, however he made his case for more minutes in a new role today.

He said: “Mudryk has an amazing talent, but he has to play football. You need to put your talent in the team. For that, you need time. It’s not only Mudryk. You know very well in this level, you need to work with and without the ball.”

The Ukraine international will be hoping that showing he could make quite the impact in a central role will see him get the opportunity to start more games, with them coming few and far between so far.

It remains to be seen if this opportunity will come as soon as Saturday, when they make the short trip across London to face Brentford.
