Chelsea continue to be linked with a host of attackers, but the Blues will obviously not be able to sign all of them.
The above includes the likes of Borussia Dortmund’s Karim Adeyemi and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams.
It has been claimed that Chelsea have discussed signing Adeyemi.
Regarding the latter, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea are interested in Williams, but Barcelona want to wrap up a deal for him quickly.
It will now be interesting to see which attacker the Blues will end up signing this summer, if one at all.
Chelsea rumours are just ‘agent talk’
While Chelsea have been heavily linked with Adeyemi, journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that it is mostly “agent talk”.
Speaking about the 22-year-old on his Substack, he said: “As for Karim Adeyemi from Dortmund, SPTC sources have said this is more just agent talk for now and there is a slim chance that Chelsea end up going for him.”
After missing out on Michael Olise, though, Chelsea still look very keen on signing a new winger ahead of the 2024/25 season.
With that in mind, the club bringing in Adeyemi does not seem impossible, though it could very well be his agent pushing it.
Will Chelsea regret not signing Karim Adeyemi?
There is still plenty of time for Chelsea to make a move for Adeyemi, who has a £35m price tag, according to the Daily Mail.
However, if they do not and the German stays at Dortmund or ends up joining another club, the Blues probably do not need to cry about it.
As of now, Adeyemi would hardly be an upgrade on Mykhailo Mudryk or Raheem Sterling, at least in terms of numbers.
Last season, the Germany international only managed to score five goals in 34 outings, while Mudryk netted seven in 41 and Sterling 10 in 43.
As an attacker, there is obviously more to consider than the above. At the same time, though, goalscoring cannot be overlooked when assessing offensive players.
