Chelsea fans have been reacting on social media to the latest performance they’ve just seen from Kendry Paez.

Chelsea confirmed last summer that they’ve agreed a deal to sign Kendry Paez from Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle. Unfortunately, he doesn’t join up with the squad at Stamford Bridge until 2025 after his 18th birthday.

In the meantime, the 17-year-old attacking midfielder has been continuing his development with Independiente.

Paez is also already a regular with the Ecuador senior national team, where he plays alongside Blues star Moises Caicedo. While representing his country this summer at the Copa America, Paez broke a Lionel Messi record, becoming this second youngest goalscorer in the tournament’s history.

Chelsea fans react to Kendry Paez performance

Independiente and Boca Juniors played out a 0-0 draw in the last 24 hours. It was the first leg of a Round of 32 clash in the Copa Sudamericana.

Paez started the match in midfield for his current club side, albeit he came off during the second-half with a suspected injury.

Chelsea fans still really liked what they saw from their future player during his latest display. Here are some of the Blues fanbase on X discussing his performance…

One fan said: “Kendry Paez is toying around with the guys who’re almost double his age.”

Another wrote: “What a performance from Kendry Paez. Had a decent game, his long balls are jokes with both feet. Man has good vision. Really can’t wait to see him play in Chelsea colours.”

One supporter posted: “Composure – 100, Kendry Paez.”

Another shared: “Can’t wait to see him in Chelsea shirt. What a talent.”

Kendry Paez match statistics

FotMob data has provided the individual match stats from Paez’s contribution against Boca Juniors.

There’s understandably a lot of excitement within the Chelsea fanbase about the kind of player Paez already is. The fact that the teenager still has an entire year to grow before he arrives is very encouraging as well.
