Fabrizio Romano has been discussing what Chelsea’s plans for one youngster is ahead of the 2024/25 season.

Chelsea have a lot of players on their books, meaning that some will probably have to be sold and loaned out before the transfer window closes.

Romelu Lukaku is one leading candidate to go this summer. Napoli have got Lukaku to agree to a move, so do not expect to see him working under new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.

Ian Maatsen and Omari Hutchinson have already been sold, with the left-back joining Aston Villa and the winger signing for Ipswich Town.

There have not been any loan moves yet, but that could be about to change very soon if Chelsea get their way.

Lesley Ugochukwu expected to leave Chelsea this summer

Chelsea have several quality midfield options at this moment in time, including the likes of Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez.

It has paved the way for Lesley Ugochukwu to leave the club on loan, with the 20-year-old unlikely to get much game time in west London this upcoming season.

According to Romano, Chelsea want him to go somewhere else temporarily and develop and play regularly there.

On X, the transfer expert said: “Lesley Ugochukwu, expected to leave Chelsea this summer as club now planning for loan move. CFC want Lesley to develop and play on regular basis.”

Goodison Park could be a potential destination for Ugochukwu. Everton are interested in signing Ugochukwu, who could replace the outgoing Amadou Onana.

Lesley Ugochukwu had disappointing 2023/24 season

Ugochukwu would have been delighted to have joined Chelsea last summer. The Blues are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have a large French contingent.

Following his £23m move from Rennes, Ugochukwu was able to link-up with the likes of Malo Gusto, Benoit Badiashile and Christopher Nkunku, just to name a few of Chelsea’s French players.

The campaign started off pretty well for him, too. He was able to make his debut right at the beginning and was getting game time.

However, Ugochukwu was unable to tie down a regular starting spot before picking up a serious hamstring injury, which resulted in him missing a large part of the season.

It is probably now best for the France U21 international to spend some time away from Stamford Bridge.

If he does and his loan spell elsewhere goes well, then maybe he can eventually become a success in Maresca‘s squad.
