On a day where Wimbledon tennis is at the centre of the sporting world, Mauricio Pochettino aced his first interview as Chelsea manager.

The Argentine begins his new post at Stamford Bridge and the interview, which was broadcast on Monday, saw him bring calmness at a club that’s been organised chaos this summer with all the incomings and outgoings.

Fans loved his vow to bring back a winning culture but it was a side-comment made about the history of the club that’s already won them over to the former Tottenham boss.

Asked about Chelsea’s culture, Pochettino said: “Yes I think it’s important, I think it’s the culture of winning.

“I think in the last ten, 12, 15 years Chelsea is the greatest team in England.

“And that we know very well, I think I know the Premier League very well. I know very well what it means to be Chelsea, the culture of Chelsea.

“I think our fans, they are so excited also to again, to be on the road of trying to win and of course for us to make it feel really exciting to work with our very young team, in a different approach to the past but I think we all need to understand that we need to work really hard.

“But also at the same time now in a very good grade, a very good atmosphere on the training ground to build the success for the team for the next few years.”

Pochettino’s claim that Chelsea are the greatest English team of recent times unsurprisingly went down very well with a number of Blues supporters.

This fan said: “‘For the past 10-15 years, Chelsea have been the greatest team in England…’ If you can’t beat ’em join ’em… so welcome to Chelsea, boss! Let’s hope it’s a story we all love!”

This fan added: “‘Win… Chelsea is greatest team in England…Mentality.’ Yup, I’m fully invested!”

Tweeting a screen shot of the ‘Chelsea have been the greatest team in England’ quote, this fan said: “Favourite quote from the video.”

Another added: “‘In the past 15 years Chelsea is the greatest team in England.’ Stop it Poch, it’s only day one and you’re going to win me over.”
