A 12-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman in her 60s was struck by a car and killed.
The lady died at the scene after she was found seriously injured in Greenhill, Sheffield.
The boy was arrested shortly after on suspicion of murder and possession of a bladed article.
He remains in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Andrea Bowell said: ‘This will be a deeply distressing time for the families of those involved in this incident, and I would ask their privacy is respected as they seek to understand what has happened.’

A silver saloon has been pictured at the scene at right angles to the road with a black tarpaulin across the front windows.
Police were called to the Sheffield suburb at 7.10pm last night after reports of a collision.
They attended the scene alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service and South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
