MasterChef fans left ‘disappointed’ by current season of cooking show: ‘It’s not up to the same standard as previous years’

MasterChef fans have expressed their disappointment as the current season of the cooking show airs on Channel Ten.

The show’s viewers have flocked to social media to claim this year’s episodes ‘aren’t up to the same standard’ as previous years.

One Reddit user wrote: ‘Can Season 15 keep up with the high standard from the past few years? We’re slightly underwhelmed by dishes cooked this year so far. Anyone else feel the same?’

‘This season isn’t up to same standard as previous seasons,’ another person agreed.

‘I’d love to see how they chose the cast this year. It really is different and no one is standing out as having a big arc in terms of developing and flourishing yet,’ a third said.

Another agreed, adding: ‘I know what you mean. Maybe we’ve been spoiled in the last few years, but it does feel like it’s not going fully yet.’

‘I don’t think it helps that the last few seasons have had past contestants in so the standard has been higher. This year does feel a bit… average,’ one person wrote.

‘This show really peaked around season 7-9 when the variety of the challenges that were being set up are just simply pushing contestants to step out of their comfort zone,’ wrote another.

It comes after fans recently vented their anger over a major editing ‘fail’ on the show.

During an episode last month, contestants faced a mystery box challenge where they were tasked with concocting a meal from a bizarre list of ingredients including giant peanuts, pumpkin and Toblerone chocolate.

Following the challenge, fans were miffed not everyone’s dish was judged and they took to social media to share their fury.

‘Terribly disappointed after tonight’s episode as once again we had the situation of some “cooks” not featuring with their dishes at the end so we don’t even know what they cooked…’ wrote one fan.

The viewer added: ‘Unfortunately because the overall series has concluded filming this situation is not likely to be corrected in future episodes so we will have to put up with it right through to the end I guess.’

Another viewer complained that that they did not get to see what the judges thought of the dish made by emerging favourite Robbie Cooper, an Iwaidja man from Darwin.

‘I’m not so disappointed more like confused,’ they said, adding: ‘What did Uncle Robbie cook?’
