As is tradition with any major tournament that England are involved in, there is set to be a World Cup song for the Lionesses.
However, unlike previous classics that touch on the despair of being a Three Lions fan, this anthem is set to focus on the positivity from England’s win at the 2022 Women’s Euros.
‘Call Me a Lioness’ sees a cast of 11 artists come together to celebrate the England Women’s team.
The choir are dubbed ‘Hope FC’ and features former Spice Girl Melanie C and Wolf Alice’s lead singer Ellie Roswell.
The anthem is ‘unofficial’ after the FA stopped releasing official songs following the 2014 Men’s World Cup.
All proceeds from sales and streams will go into directly funding grassroots and women’s football.
Co-writer Olivia Dean believes it’s a powerful and positive track.
Speaking to the BBC, she said: “We wanted to make a song that gives girls a soundtrack to their pride of the Lionesses and of being a woman, and to unite everyone in that pride.
“Whenever I hear Call Me A Lioness I think about being in a beer garden singing it at the top of my lungs with my friends.”
The Lionesses begin their road to glory against Haiti this weekend live on talkSPORT, and this is sure to be belted out in the dressing room.
