Mauricio Pochettino is fighting for his job at Chelsea right now following his side’s 4-2 loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
One source has told journalist Simon Phillips that it could be over for Mauricio Pochettino tomorrow if Chelsea lose against Aston Villa.
Phillips has also claimed on Substack that Jose Mourinho and his people are pushing for a return to Stamford Bridge. “His reps are lobbying hard I’ve heard,” he shared with Chelsea supporters.
Mourinho, described as a “world-class manager” by Jurgen Klopp, would be available to come in now after being sacked by AS Roma last month.
However, with Chelsea playing a cup final against Liverpool at the end of February, it will be interesting to see if the club really are prepared to pull the trigger on Pochettino.
Jose Mourinho wants third Chelsea spell
From Mourinho’s perspective, it is not hard to see why he would want to return to Chelsea.
They are still a big club by name and also a very rich one. He would be able to bring in good players.

The Portuguese coach obviously has an affinity with the Blues as well after his first two spells there, which saw him win three Premier League titles.
The people who sacked him are no longer at Stamford Bridge, so there is no bad blood to worry about here either.
The question is, though, can Mourinho still do it in the top flight? After all, his last three jobs in England all ended with him getting dismissed.
You suspect that Chelsea will try and go for a more modern-day manager, like what they did with Pochettino and Graham Potter. However, with those two failing, perhaps Mourinho is a name they may not take off the table and actually consider.
For now, though, Pochettino obviously remains in a job and if he can win the Carabao Cup this month, that could change everything.
