Marco Silva has turned down a huge offer to manage Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli.

The Fulham boss will remain at Craven Cottage, with even his current employers stunned by the decision.

Silva was believed to have a multi-year contract offer worth a staggering £40million on the table from the Saudi PIF-owned team.

But the Portuguese will instead remain in the Premier League after expressing his ‘total commitment’ to the club in his most recent press conference.

That’s in contrast to his star striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, who is said to be livid with Fulham for turning down lucrative offers from Al Ahli for his services.

Silva had spoken about both his and Mitrovic’s futures ahead of a friendly against Brentford, and was far clearer on the Serbian striker’s situation.

“It is not the ideal scenario, not because he received an offer. It is all the situation about himself,” Silva told the media.

“As you know, he is not going to play tomorrow, he didn’t play last Wednesday, he is not working properly with his team-mates, and when I say it is not the ideal scenario, this is the situation.”

On his own position, Silva was slightly less clear, starting by saying: “My commitment for the club is clear and it will continue.”

However, when he was asked directly if he would stay, he answered: “I will not talk about the situation. I don’t come here to talk about offers and these situations.”
