Melk had agreed to sell the land to Copperfield’s Imagine Nation Company, according to his argument, and Copperfield employed a third party to conduct the discussions out of fear that Melk was abusing his famous status. The matter was resolved in 2006, but the settlement terms are still secret.
On November 6, 2007, Copperfield was sued for roughly $2.2 million by Viva Art International Ltd and Maz Concerts Inc.
