YNG Cheese — On Thursday night, July 20, there was a tragic incident in the Olney neighborhood of the city. Three individuals lost their lives due to a shooting, and among the victims was the son of the popular local rapper and podcaster, Gillie Da King.
The shooting occurred just before 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of Mascher Street and Nedro Avenue. It was a devastating event that left the community in shock and mourning for the lives lost.
When the police arrived at the scene, they found two people who had been shot. One of the victims was Devin Spadey, 25 years old, and he had been shot in the back, not far from the location. They rushed both victims to Einstein Medical Center, but unfortunately, Devin Spadey was pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to several witnesses at the crime scene, the 25-year-old victim who tragically lost his life was YNG Cheese, who happens to be Gillie Da Kid son. The incident has left the community deeply saddened and shocked.

Gillie has also been known as Gillie Da Kid. The other two victims of the incident, a 28-year-old guy and a 31-year-old man, are both in stable condition at Einstein.
Police are still investigating who shot these three individuals and why. We haven’t heard from Gillie yet. He’ll be hosting Gillie Fest at Franklin Music Hall next Saturday night. There will be a concert and a comedy show to celebrate his birthday.
