A $1 million reward has been announced to help solve the cold case murder of woman in Sydney’s east nearly 30 years ago.
Toni Tiki, 26, was last seen leaving a New Year’s Eve party at the South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club at 1.30am January 1, 1996.
A male friend of Tiki had earlier agreed to walk her home, but he later decided to stay at the party and she left alone.
She could not be contacted after she left and was declared missing on January 2.
Her body was found near the surf club on January 5, 1996.
A coroner found that she had died from severe injuries.
The Homicide Squad took over the investigation, however, it has never been solved.
Today, NSW Police and Police Minister Yasmin Cately announced a $1 million reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the persons involved in her death.
“The message is: if you have any information, regardless of how small or insignificant you might think it is â please come forward,” Catley said.
Homicide Squad Commander Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty said someone must know something.
“We’re hoping today’s $1 million reward will encourage anyone who may be still sitting on information about Toni’s death to come forward and talk to police,” Doherty said.
“Toni was a mother and a loved member of her family who didn’t deserve what happened to her, but her family does deserve answers.”
