The business owner highlighting the spate of crime afflicting the town of Alice Springs through his Facebook page has been suspended from the social media platform for ‘bullying and harassment’.
Darren Clarke, who operates the page Action for Alice 2020, discovered he had been banned on Tuesday morning after uploading a video of two teenage Aboriginal girls fighting the previous day.
He claims Facebook temporarily suspended his account over the video due to ‘bullying and harassment’.
Mr Clarke was shocked by the suspension and slammed the social media giant of ‘trying to shutdown the truth’.

‘This is just showing the problems we’ve got and it’s still continuing, it’s not going away,’ he told former political advisor Peta Credlin on her Sky News Australia program.
‘We’re just showing the truth and we’re just trying to help some kids here, we’re trying to save some lives and change Indigenous lives here in the Northern Territory.’
Mr Clarke explained that the vision was ‘tame’ compared to other videos he had published previously.
He called on Facebook to create a foundation for Indigenous children instead of trying to shut down his account and divide the Alice Springs community.
‘I put the challenge out to Facebook. You’ve got a lot of money guys, you’ve got a lot of power, if you want to shutdown the truth, shutdown a decent bloke and a decent town of people that are fighting to keep our community together,’ he said.
‘When I say a community – a black and white community that’s what we are…don’t try and separate us because that’s not gonna work.’
He highlights crimes occurring in the central Australian town through videos and images sent to him by residents and fellow business owners
