Blood, brass knuckles and intravenous sedatives were discovered in a car owned by a plastic surgeon who is facing a murder charge.

It comes after the presumed death of a missing lawyer whose body has not been found, court documents said.

Dr. Tomasz Kosowski, 44, was arrested by Largo police in a traffic stop on March 25, according to an arrest affidavit obtained through the Pinellas County, Florida, court website.

Steve Cozzi, an attorney specializing in bankruptcy and commercial litigation at Blanchard Law, was reported missing on March 21, police have said.

Cozzi’s mother, Lois Cozzi, told WFLA on Sunday: ‘As a family, we are frantic with worry and numb with fear over Steven’s disappearance.’

Kosowski has pleaded not guilty and remains in jail.

Cozzi was discovered missing by a colleague, after the lawyer left his wallet, car, car keys and cell phone at the Blanchard Law office on South Belcher Road.

The report said the colleague found blood smeared on the door, stall wall, and the bottom of a toilet in a bathroom.

Other employees told police that there was an ‘aroma of bleach’ coming from the restrooms after Cozzi disappeared.

Surveillance footage from a CCTV camera placed near the office, shows the man pulling into the parking lot in a Toyota Tundra, then leaving two hours later, as he struggled to get a heavy cart into the truck.

According to court reports, an additional video obtained by police shows that a bag or covering inside the cart, which was in the bed of the truck, appeared to contain what looked like a human body.

After police searched Kosowski’s home as well as the truck, they discovered blood in the truck bed, on the driver’s side headrest, driver’s side floorboard, and garage floor.

The suspect was halted by police during a traffic stop in a Toyota Corolla.

After they searched the vehicle, the officers found a ballistic vest, a substantial amount of blood, a bag containing masks, a taser, brass knuckles, duct tape and intravenous sedatives with syringes, the documents add.

Kosowski, who owns Kendall Plastic Surgery Center in Miami and worked at the Laufer Institute of plastic surgery from 2016 to 2018, graduated from Dartmouth and specialized in breast reconstruction.

Kosowski filed a lawsuit suing his former employer, Dunedin Surgical Consultants, LLC., in 2019.

The lawsuit claims Dunedin Surgical Consultants hired a new insurance biller — and that biller allegedly improperly handed insurance claims, and misrepresented claims and the manner in which they were filed.

In several court filings, Cozzi is listed as a legal representative of the defendants in the case, but police are yet to establish a motive.

Fox13 reported Cozzi’s husband, Michael Montgomery as saying: ‘He loved fighting for the little guy.

‘When he first told me he was an attorney, I was envisioning slicked-back hair and all of that, and then when I met him, he genuinely loved the law. He genuinely loved helping people.’

‘Our hearts are collectively broken as we process the loss of our fellow board member and friend, Steven Cozzi,’ said Hutch Pinder, the president of the St. Petersburg Bar Association.

Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Largo Police Department at 727-587-6730.
