Alex Murdaugh sobbed as he was confronted by law enforcement about evidence that proved he was at the crime scene minutes before his wife and son were murdered.
The disgraced legal scion’s third interview with South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) was played for the jury at his murder trial on Wednesday.
SLED Special Agent Jeff Croft asked Murdaugh a slew of questions including what he did the day of the murders, and then told him that his timeline doesn’t match up.
The interview also established that Murdaugh had changed his clothes after the murders and that ‘family guns’ were used to execute his wife and son.
Murdaugh, 54, faces up to life in prison if convicted of killing his 52-year-old wife Maggie and their 22-year-old son Paul, whose bodies were found June 7, 2021, near the kennels on the family’s estate. Murdaugh has adamantly denied killing them.

The third interview was played in court on Wednesday following testimony from SLED Agent David Owen who took the stand this morning.
Owen said Murdaugh called him on July 28 with questions about the investigation and if he could get belongings, including his golf clubs, from his 2021 Chevrolet Suburban because he was about to go on vacation.
Owen testified that he wanted to question Murdaugh again, but he said Murdaugh couldn’t meet right away so the interview was set up for August 11.
Three weeks into disgraced South Carolina attorney Alex Murdaugh’s double murder trial, prosecutors have called dozens of witnesses offering wide-ranging – and sometimes disjointed – testimony.
Jurors have heard from the investigators who found the bodies of Murdaugh’s wife and son, and technicians who found gunshot residue, cracked open cellphones to get videos and tested dozens of ammunition casings.

They’ve heard from betrayed law firm employees, heartbroken friends of Murdaugh and his family, and a man whose insurance settlement was stolen after his mother, the Murdaughs’ housekeeper, died in a fall at their home.
But witnesses have been called in disorganized groups and tantalizing scraps of evidence have been introduced but not explained. The defense hopes to start its case in middle of next week and had planned a week of testimony but is rethinking that because of the trial´s length.
Following the murder trial, Murdaugh will have to face more than 100 additional criminal charges, ranging from drug trafficking to allegations that he stole nearly $9million from clients and other attorneys.
Prosecutors say Murdaugh lured his wife and son to their 1,700-acre hunting lodge and shot them dead.
The state also claims that his life was spiraling out of control amid years of opioid addiction and ballooning debts.
Murdaugh pleaded not guilty in June, and the blockbuster trial is expected to include wild allegations of dark family secrets, financial ruin and hedonistic excess.
In total, over 220 people could testify against Murdaugh in the trial.
