A woman’s body has been discovered in a bin on an isolated stretch of road as homicide detectives head to the scene.

The grisly find was made on Mt Pollock Rd at Buckley, near Geelong south-west of Melbourne around midday on Saturday.

Police are treating the discovery as suspicious and established a crime scene at the area south of the Princes Highway.

The area is blocked off to traffic, with scattered residential blocks and farmland along the road where the woman’s body was found.

Homicide Squad detectives are on their way to the scene from Melbourne, reported the Herald Sun.

One local, Eric Lewis, who owns land near the scene told the publication he was ‘flabbergasted’ by the horrific discovery.

He said he made his way to the scene after hearing something on the ‘bush telegraph’ but that police would not tell him anything.

‘What is happening here in Buckley, I just can’t believe it,’ he said.

Another resident said the find was ‘disturbing’ and would prove shocking to the close knit local community.

More to come.
