More CCTV has been released as police continue to investigate a deadly fire in Melbourne earlier this year.

A panel shop went up in flames on Bunnett Street, Sunshine North, just after 4am on Friday, February 23.

Police were told a white, dual-cab ute pulled up outside the building before a man got out and emptied a jerry can on the factory door before setting it alight.

He then returned to the car, which fled the scene.

The fire spread to a building behind the panel shop, a factory on Marshall Street, where two men were sleeping inside at the time.

Both men, aged 42 and 48, died at the scene.

The white ute has a silver tray and was captured on CCTV travelling north on Bunnett Street on CCTV.

The additional CCTV released today shows the ute on Albert Drive in Melton South at about 4.40am on the morning of the fire.

It was later found burnt out on Gisborne Road in Coimadai around 5.20am the day after.

Police have also released a digital composite image of a man who was seen near the car that morning.
