A man shot dead execution-style while sitting in a car on a quiet suburban street has been revealed to be a 24-year-old with underworld links.

Marvin Oraiha was shot multiple times on Hertfordshire St in Elizabeth Hills, southwest Sydney about 4pm on Monday.

First responders tried desperately to revive Mr Oraiha, who had a bullet wound to his head but died at the scene.

He is understood to have links to bikie gangs and organised crime but a motive for his death is unknown.

The gunman remains on the run.

One of the cars, an SUV, was found a five minutes drive away on Bough St in Green Valley at 4:07pm.

The other car, a sedan, was discovered on fire at Lewis Street in Bonnyrigg Heights at 4:13pm, six minutes’ drive away.

‘Despite the efforts of first responders, the man died at the scene.

‘He has not been formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 20s.

‘A crime scene has been established and an investigation underway into the circumstances surrounding the incident.’

Detectives are yet to confirm if the two burning cars and the murder are connected.

The gruesome killing is just the latest in a bloody chain of incidents that have rocked Sydney in the past two years and a half years.

There have been 16 people gunned down since August 2020 across the Harbour City with all of the underworld hits following similar modus operandi and two burnt out cars.
