Police were told 75 such plaques had been stolen from the Altona Memorial Park on Doherty’s Road, Altona North, between Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

The bronze plaques had been erected in memory of children by their families in the park’s “Garden of Little Angels”.

Police have called for anyone with information to come forward.

Detectives also warned scrap metal dealers to be wary of thieves attempting to sell the plaques, and to report any suspicious activity to police.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
