The police report says friends were able to resolve the conflict, but Pearson approached Mr. Akester 20 minutes later and hit him.
Mr. Akester stumbled backward and hit the ground, hitting his head. Despite efforts by emergency personnel to save him, Mr. Akester passed away in a hospital later that day.
Scott’s death was completely unnecessary, according to Det Ch Insp Al Curtis, and it was caused by Pearson’s reckless acts with no concern for the repercussions.

The man who gave his friend a vicious punch to the face knocked him to the ground, and then killed him was guilty of manslaughter.
On November 18, during a night out at the Grandale bar in Sutton Park, Michael Pearson, 30, punched Scott Akester, 31. He then argued that he had acted in self-defense and denied manslaughter, but Hull Crown Court found him guilty after a trial.
After being first charged with murder, Pearson, of Saltshouse Road in east Hull, was eventually given a manslaughter charge instead.
He confessed that he had no desire to kill his friend, and the court was notified of this. He is expected to get a sentence on June 29.
The court was informed that Pearson looked up “manslaughter sentence” on Google before turning himself in to the Police following the assault.
After the deadly encounter, he allegedly took aggressive steps to delete all the data from his phone, including any evidence.

They had been working together in the weeks before the event, but there did not appear to have been any earlier issues, and they were “on friendly terms” at the time, the court was informed during the trial.
Det Ch Insp Al Curtis said: “Scott’s death was utterly needless… a result of Pearson’s mindless actions with no regard for the consequences.” Pearson made attempts to erase the evidence.
A guy lost his life, and a family lost a loved one as a result of a single punch that had a fatal effect. A 33-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman have been taken into custody on suspicion of aiding an offender.
On Monday morning, Pearson will show up in Hull Magistrates Court.
