‘Evil’ career criminal kills man after being released early from jail

‘This 31-year-old suspect is pure evil,’ Palm Bay Police Chief Mario Augello (pictured) said, noting that he should not have been released early given his violent history. ‘He is a violent repeat offender that, while out on bond for previous arrest, preyed on the citizens of Brevard County. The homicide investigation began when Palm Bay police responded to a home on the 2700 block of Palm Drive NE (pictured) around 7am on April 20 for a 911 call. The 69-year-old victim was found dead at the scene by officers who arrived minutes after the 911 call. Giambanco’s criminal record shows he had racked up 22 felony and 24 misdemeanor charges, which should have been enough to prevent his early release. He was initially jailed after being found guilty for throwing a rock through the window of a home he’d previously trespassed in 2017. Augello said the current criminal justice system is failing to keep communities safe by releasing violent repeat offenders too early because of sentences that have been shortened or because they are receiving the lightest of punishments. Although the identity of the man he is alleged to have murdered has not been revealed police say they recovered evidence that immediately connected Giambanco (pictured) to the homicide. He now faces charges for second-degree murder with a firearm, false imprisonment, grand theft with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. ‘He was a good neighbor. Good friend of mine,’ Richard Redwanowski told WESH he knew the victim and lived across his home. ‘He wouldn’t hurt anybody. He’s a super super straight up nice guy.
