Police are appealing to the public for help in identifying four men after a large-scale “out-of-control” hooning event that saw police vehicles damaged in Queensland.

A crowd of almost 400 people gathered on Bourke Street in Waterford West in Logan about 2pm yesterday as some drivers performed dangerous stunts.

Three police vehicles were allegedly damaged while officers were inside. The officers were not injured.

Police have today released images of four men who may be able to assist with their inquiries and are asking anyone who could identify them to come forward.

Anyone with any information on the event is also urged to contact police as investigations remain ongoing.

Residents of the street were left unimpressed as traffic banked up and police blocked off the roads.

“It’s disgusting,” one woman told 9News yesterday.

When 9News asked one man about the reason behind the gathering he explained “mate, it’s a party, it’s just a party, it’s family”.

At one point multiple police officers were surrounded inside their vehicle as some attendees kicked and punched dents in the patrol car.

“Fortunately we had police nearby that were able to respond and back them up,” Chief Inspector Les Bulluss said.

No one was injured and one person was taken into police custody.

9News was told supporters swarmed the street for a YouTuber who was visiting to showcase the neighbourhood.

“None of this was done with the endorsement of the [Anderson] family,” Bulluss said.

“In fact, they’re really distressed by the actions and crowd and what occurred here.”

Police have slammed those who attended the gathering.

“Potential for a tragedy just cannot be understated, they’re putting their lives at danger,” Bulluss said.
