Police are investigating after human remains were discovered by the Murrumbidgee River south of Canberra yesterday afternoon.

A member of the public called police to report finding a body near the northern end of the Point Hut Crossing, which is about a 30-minute drive from Canberra, about 3.45pm yesterday.

ACT police said a post-mortem will determine the person’s cause of death, while the body is yet to be identified.

Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
