Wilder was the mother of two teens — a boy and a girl, AL.com reported.
Police said the 17-year-old suspect — taken into custody Wednesday morning — was a family member but did not give a specific relationship to Wilder, WIAT reported.
Calera schools were temporarily on lockdown before the suspect — said to be a student — was located, according to AL.com.
Wilder’s body was found after a family member requested a welfare check, police said.

A Shelby County mother was found shot to death inside her home on Tuesday.
Calera police responded about 7:30 p.m. to the woman’s home on Kerry Drive in the Kinsale subdivision after a family member requested a welfare check.
When they arrived, they found 42-year-old Lashondra Monique Wilder unresponsive inside. She appeared to have been shot multiple times and was pronounced dead on the scene.
Wilder was the mother of two teens – a boy and a girl.
The Shelby County Major Crimes Task Force responded to the scene and remained there until early Wednesday.
Calera Police Chief David Hyche said the suspect was taken into custody Wednesday morning in Jefferson County. The killing is believed to be domestic in nature.
A lookout bulletin issued to police across Shelby and Jefferson counties identified the suspect as a 17-year-old male.
The Calera schools went on lockdown as a precaution because the suspect was reportedly a student.
Wilder, who previously lived in Birmingham, is the city’s first homicide of the year.
“We appreciate the cooperation and patience of our citizens,’’ Hyche posted on Facebook. “Crimes like this do not occur often in our community but when they do our citizens, schools and police all work together as one team.”
